My personal approach
I learnt about the Alexander Technique through playing the piano and was impressed by the fact that my playing changed instantly: whereas before I had only tried to get it right and not make any mistakes, I now began to do and listen to what I actually longed for: music. In the beginning, it was just a few words and thoughts that opened up a whole new approach to myself and my body, touching on many issues in my everyday life.
When I started to take regular lessons, I suffered from severe back pain and tension that made it difficult to sleep – this problem quickly disappeared. Although I continued to have back pain in the following years, it was never as severe. My self-care gradually improved so much that pain now plays a negligible role in my life.
Learning the Alexander Technique and integrating it into my life has helped me to liberate and stabilise myself personally and emotionally, to give success and joy a greater place in my life than anxiety and doubt. I attribute much of the fact that my mind and body remain flexible as I grow older to the Alexander Technique. For me, it is a unique – and necessary – health prevention programme.
I am constantly grateful for this special and effective work, which has opened up many beneficial paths in my life and allows me to find myself in a continuous and liberating process. And it fills me with joy and meaning to share my experiences with other people and make the wonderful tools of this work available to them.
